Naja Raz
A lil' mo' better
What happens if you take kayak rolling to the extreme?
The new Rebel Naja Raz: The ultimate Greenland rolling machine, perfected
The idea of the legendary Ilaga continues to inspire, and now, our trusted friend has a little sister that is turning the tables on "traditional" composite kayak design. Meet the Naja Raz.
Too often, kayaks have been designed by men, for men, leaving smaller paddlers and women to "make do." The result? Paddlers lost in oversized cockpits, maneuvering boats that feel heavy, sluggish, and never truly theirs.
With the Naja Raz, we threw out the old rulebook. In fact, one of our core design constraints was beautifully simple: create a Greenland kayak that the designer himself couldn't fit into.
Born from tradition, rebuilt for freedom
Carrying the elite DNA of the Ilaga, the Naja Raz is bold, elegant, and built specifically for those who demand a kayak that actually fits. Optimized for paddlers 65 kilos (143 lbs) and under, it offers a level of comfort, precision, and effortless control that larger boats simply cannot replicate. It is also the absolute perfect companion for younger paddlers eager to challenge themselves and rapidly grow their skills.
But we didn’t stop there.
To take this model to the next level, Rebel Kayaks designer Johan Wirsén partnered with advanced Greenland rollers to bridge the gap between composite boats and traditional skin-on-frame kayaks. We asked a fundamental question: How do we give the paddler ultimate freedom of movement without sacrificing the hull's award-winning balance and handling?
The answer is the Raz redesign. A meticulous refinement of the exact space where paddler and boat meet.
What makes the "Raz" cockpit revolutionary?
We left the high-performing hull completely untouched, keeping the volume, stiffness, and grace you expect from Rebel. Instead, we completely overhauled the cockpit ergonomics to unlock your full rolling potential:
3 cm Wider Cockpit Rim: We expanded the cockpit width by three centimeters. This gives your hips and lower back the critical clearance needed to execute advanced pelvic shifts and twists (like the straitjacket roll) without restriction.
Roll at the Edge, Not Into It: By widening the rim, the cockpit edge sits closer to the waterline and hull. During a roll, you no longer have to climb over a sharp edge at hip height. You effortlessly glide under it.
Reshaped Rear Deck: The rear deck has been lowered and optimized, allowing you to lay back further and flatter than ever before.
Ergonomic Levers: The updated layout gives you better leverage from your legs lower in the boat and total freedom behind your back.
Is the Naja Raz right for you?
If you are under 65 kg: You have finally found your match. This kayak will feel light on your shoulders (less than 14kg without the skeg box assembly), nimble in the water, and perfectly proportioned to your body. It transitions beautifully from a playful rolling session to clever, lightweight day-touring.
If you are on the stronger side of 65 kg (up to 80 kg): If you can squeeze into this tight, ultra-responsive cockpit, congratulations! You have just unlocked a playful, aggressive rolling machine that actually outshines the Ilaga.
Simply put: Naja Raz by Rebel. Made to fit, built to inspire. Your "wait" for the perfect rolling kayak is over. Now go out and practice!
